My candle seemed to burn pretty clean. After burning the candle for a while, the wax completely liquefied at the top all the way to the sides of the jar. I like when this happens because I think it leads to a more even burn. I think the wax melted all the way on top since the candle was double-wicked. Normally when I burn candles with a single wick, there is still some wax left on the sides of the jar as the candle burns down.
When my grape candle cooled after I burned it for the first time, I noticed the wax on top was not smooth. It was flaky and uneven. Sometimes this happens with 100% soy candles. I can't explain why it happens with soy wax, it just does. As long as the scent of a candle is fabulous, most candle lovers don't mind a flaky texture on the surface of their soy candles. I prefer to see my candles smooth on top, but that's just me.
