This is my second review of Northern Maine Candle Co and I’m happy to report I’m still impressed with this company. Northern Maine offers 100% all soy candles available in one style and size jar which is 17oz or clamshell tarts available for $3.50 per package. Last time I reviewed this company, only 21 scents were on the menu and I believe their scent count is now up to 26… still not a huge amount but it’s getting there. Give Michelle some more time and it’ll be up in the 40’s before we know it.

I do know Michelle, owner of Northern Maine is very picky about the fragrances she has on her menu and tests and tests her scents until they’re absolutely perfect to her nose. To me, that translates into perfection which is great for us candle lovers and shows quite the dedication on her part. I reviewed 3 of her scents back in December of last year and enjoyed all 3. I can safely say anything you purchase from her is of excellent quality and worthy of purchase. Next on my list up for review from this company are two new fragrances recently added called Maine’s Coastal Breeze and Raspberry Lemonade.

How Did My Candles from Northern Maine Candle Co. Smell?

Maine’s Coastal Breeze:

This fragrance is very fresh and crisp just like the name implies and I almost want to say is on the masculine side. When I first opened the lid of this candle to smell it, a very fresh and clean fragrance hit my nose… just like a blowing breeze with a hint of aftershave in the air. Here is the scent description from Northern Maine’s website:

“This is a wonderful and relaxing clean ozoney ocean type scent. This is the closest ocean scent I have ever come across. You can almost smell the salt in the air when burning. Put your ocean sounds cd on, sit in your comfortable chair, sit back, relax and dream of walking on the coast of Maine!”

That’s a very nice scent description for this scent. Getting the smell of the ocean in a candle can’t be an easy task… when I think of the ocean, I think of that salty air, sand, seagulls and that one of a kind breeze only the ocean can give. It’s so distinctive and one of a kind. After burning this candle, I have to agree that this candle is the closest to getting it right so far. Not quite 100% but it’s still a nice & fresh ocean type scent.

The scent throw is nice and strong. My candle fragranced my large bedroom and open bathroom easily and you could smell it loud and clear no matter where you were in the room. As in, you didn’t have to walk out of the room and come back in to smell it. I love candles like that and usually end up going back for more. Definitely give this one a try if you’re after a fresh scent this summer.

Raspberry Lemonade:

Who out there can resist this refreshing fragrance? I know I can’t! Northern Maine did a great job recreating this scent and I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. Here is the scent description for Raspberry Lemonade straight from Northern Maine’s website:

“This scent is tart lemonade with sweet raspberries. Strong, awesome and true to it's name! Color: Just like pink lemonade.”

After burning this candle for one week straight, I would have to rate the scent throw a medium+ in strength. I burned this candle in my usual bedroom location and the fragrance was perfect there filling the large room with scent and traveling into my open bathroom too. The fragrance pretty much stayed in those two rooms so it’s not overpowering at all but still strong enough to smell it loud and clear. The bright pink color of this candle is really summery and it looks nice burning. All I needed were ice cubes and a glass… smelling this scent always makes me crave the real thing. :-)

Lemonade fragrances are one of my all time favorites to burn during the summer and one I never get tired of, ever! It’s just a perfect summer scent to me. It’s vibrant and makes my house smell sweet and fresh at the same time. Northern Maine Candle Co. has a great version and I highly recommend you give this one a try.

My candles burned great. No soot or smoke.

Overall Opinion of My Candles & Northern Maine Candle Co:

Northern Maine is a great candle company and definitely worthy of shopping on. Their fragrance selection is small so that would be the only negative which I find minute when compared to the quality of the candles. Customer service is top notch and I also noticed their shipping cost is now more reasonable.

Shipping charges play a huge part when I’m shopping for candles or tarts online. If shipping isn’t reasonable, I usually won’t shop there. Now that shipping has gone down on this site, I can easily look into my crystal ball and see my credit cards put to good use here. Hey, I’m human and candles are my biggest weakness.
