Old Fashioned Candle Co.

Old Fashioned Candle Co. is an online store selling blended soy candles in (I counted) 56 fragrances. They have quite a selection of candle styles ranging from keepsake jars, mason, pillars, tins, hex jars, votives, tea lights and melts. That’s a pretty darn good selection. The patio cups I’m reviewing today are only available in one fragrance however, Lime Cooler. I’m not really sure why only this scent but they must have a reason.

I don’t really have any experience ordering with this company other than reviewing this candle. The owners of Old Fashioned Candle Co. do donate to our contest regularly and seem very dedicated to providing quality candles and service.

I wanted you all to know I’m reviewing a lime scent in this review because this candle was sent to me during early summer. Yes I know, it’s fall and I promise this is the last fruity scent till spring.  I’ve been behind finishing up summer reviews and really wanted to finish this one up. This company has been patiently waiting a few months for this review and I don’t like disappointing anyone. :-)

What Does My Patio Cup Candle Look Like?

My patio cup candle is pretty small, 5oz exactly. The best way I can think to describe it is the glass cup reminds me of an old fashioned Jello or pudding bowl. The wax color was a vibrant green and the candle had one wick.

How Did My Lime Cooler Candle Smell?

I love Lime scents. They’re citrusy, zesty and I even like the ones that smell like candy. Lime is such a fun and fresh scent so it’s hard not liking the many versions out there. I knew I would like this candle the moment I smelled it. Here is the scent description for Lime Cooler:

“The delightful fresh scent of Limes will freshen your whole house or favorite outside living area. You'll be thinking of the cool tropics & drinks with little umbrellas soon.”

Because this was a small candle, I burned it in a smaller room where the scent was perfect. The scent strength was medium but I’m sure would be much stronger with a larger candle. The fragrance itself is a nice and tart lime scent. It kind of reminded me of Limeade or lime Kool-Aid. 

After reading the scent description, I’m not sure about the “patio” concept of burning a candle outside. Had I tried it, I don’t think I would have smelled the fragrance but I guess the ambiance part would be nice. I don’t know... call me old fashioned because I would hate to waste a perfectly good scented candle to the bugs and open air outside. Fo-get-a-bout-it! But... it’s a nice concept and one I may have to try in the future.

My candle burned fine with the wick trimmed. 

Closing Remarks:

I really enjoyed this scent and thought the patio cups were cute. I can’t vouch for their other 55 fragrances but with any candle store, I think this company is worth shopping on. Old Fashioned Candle Co. also offers free shipping across the board no matter how much you order, small or large. Not bad and I know appreciated by many of us candle freaks. Their prices are in line with other mom and pop stores and they certainly offer a nice selection of products.
