Primitive Pickenz is a very cute & whimsical style website. When I first went on this site to look around, I typically wanted one of everything. Boy is it a horrible affliction… wanting everything you see the first time around but thankfully, I controlled myself as hard as it was and chose 3 scents… yes folks, THREE! Hard to believe, I know but I did it!!

Primitive Pickenz offers 123 fragrances in over 11 different style candles ranging from grubby loaves, cupcakes, jars, tins, pies, votives, melts and more! WOW! Not a bad selection if I do say so myself and even better news for all you bakery lovers out there. I decided on 3 fragrances and let the company choose what style candles to send them in. They chose cute little 8oz tins that look like paint cans. Sooooo cute!!

What Do My Primitive Pickenz Candles Look Like?

deja vu candles, dejavu candles, candles deja vu,candle deja vu,scented candles dejavu, scented candles deja vu,candle scents deja vuThese are the cutest little candles. They look like miniature paint tin cans with brown Primitive Pickenz labels on the face of the can. (see photo to left for candle style) All my candles were single wicked. The wax color of Lemon Pound Cake is yellow, Pineapple Cilantro is orange & Pink Lime is pink.

How Did My Primitive Pickenz Candles Smell?

Lemon Pound Cake:

I really liked this candle. Lemon! Pound cake! Two yummy scents fused together… how could I not enjoy this one? My candle was 8oz and had a fairly small opening so I ended up burning this candle in one of my bathrooms where the scent throw was perfect. I think one of their larger jars would probably scent a medium+ size room with ease. That’s a guess because I haven’t burned one of their larger candles but I think it’s fairly safe to say it would. Here’s the scent description from Primitive Pickenz website:

“The best lemony smell I have EVER smelled! Very rich with a baked cake scent as well.”

Yes, it’s very lemony and sweet. Just like baking a lemon cake in your oven. I’ve been on a mad search for a lemon cookie scent and am having zero luck finding the perfect one my nose and senses go nuts over… this was as close as I’ve found to a yummy and sweet baked lemon scent. It has the lemony-oh-so-yummyness I love and the sweet bakery part that makes your house smell like you’re baking something gooey in the oven. I love that smell!

Give this candle a try if you like sweet lemon scents like me. It’s a good one.

Pineapple Cilantro:

I like burning Pineapple scented candles, either straight pineapple all by itself or in the many other tropical variations out there. I’ve tried several versions of Pineapple Cilantro and do like it… it’s unique and the cilantro adds a nice flavor to this sweet tropical fruit. Here is the scent description for this fragrance:

“For those of you who love Southwestern spice and herbals, anything reminiscent of the desert, you will fall in love with this fragrance! Sweet fresh pineapple (not the sickly sweet "canned pineapple" scent) juice and green herbal Cilantro in a blend that will knock your socks off. A very unexpected blend that you will love!”

I thought I was losing it when I was burning this candle because I truly thought it smelled like coconut. I barely smelled any Pineapple… so here I found myself once again questioning my nose. So, I started asking everyone in my house as well as friends who came over making them do the “Christina smell test”. My family and friends are used to it considering I’m the candle queen in these parts… every single one said it smelled like coconut.

With that said, it’s not a bad scent. The throw was pretty strong and I actually got away with burning this candle in my bedroom rather than my bathroom. On a scale of 1 to 10 for scent strength, I would give this one an 8+ and my candle was small so I’m guessing a bigger one would be even better.

I don’t know if it was a fluke that this candle smelled like coconut or not because I haven’t asked them about it. It was a nice fragrance and definitely tropical so if that’s something you like, give this one a try. I was told it’s one of their best summer sellers right now.
