Snowtop Candles

I’ve known about Snowtop Candle Co. for awhile but have never tried their candles until recently.  I have so many candles, it’s not even funny so it’s just taking me awhile to try all these adorable mom & pop companies on the net.  This website is very country in style and has that “homey” feel I like to experience on these smaller sites.  

Snowtop sells all soy candles in 40 fragrances and counting.  Their candle selection ranges from 3 different jars sizes as well as votives, tea lights and melts.  What I found extremely surprising were their prices.  Man oh man are they super inexpensive!! An 18oz apothecary jar is $10.75, the mason jars I reviewed are $6.75 and their melts are $2.50 for a 6 pack!  Double take!  $2.50 for a 6 pack!  Those are phenomenal prices and the best part is... these candles are great!!  I am very impressed so far.  So, even if you have to pay full shipping, it’s worth it.

What Do My Candles from Snowtop Look Like?

For a mason jar, these were really cute candles.  To me, mason jars are usually really simple with canning style lids etc.  The lids on Snowtops are thick silver metal type lids making them appear more rustic.  I liked it.  There is a clear label on the face of the candle with the company and scent name.  I found it simple and well done.  Macintosh Apple was red, Creamy Coconut Pie white and Peanut Butter Cookie brown in color.  All three candles were single wicked.

How Did My Candles from Snowtop Smell?

Apple seems to be a very popular scent during the fall.  I’m always hearing friends and fellow candle addicts talking about burning or melting apple scents during this crisp and breezy season.  It’s funny because when I picked out the fragrances I wanted to review, this wasn’t one of them.  Snowtop surprised me with Macintosh Apple because it’s a recent scent they just added and they wanted to know what I thought.  Pretty sneaky huh?  Here is the scent description:

“Just like the real thing! Tart and Sweet Red Apple!”

Not the most descriptive or long winded description but hey, what more can be said of a Macintosh Apple?  I love apple scents pretty much anytime of the year so it was no hardship adding this candle to my review.  Besides, it’s now fall weather around here and a perfect scent for my house.

I normally have a hard time burning narrow type mason jars in my home because the rims are smaller.  Smaller scent pools don’t usually do well in my big rooms but this candle totally surprised me and kicked bootie in my bedroom. I couldn’t believe it!

I lit this sucker in the morning and I swear I started to smell the scent right away.  After about an hour, not only did it fragrance my entire bedroom and open bathroom, it filtered into my great-room and drowned out the candles I had burning out there.  This is a strong fragrance and a nice crisp apple scent, just like biting into a juicy and crisp apple.  I very much enjoyed it and think anyone who loves apple scents would like is as much as I did.  Definitely give this one a try.

I wasn’t really in a coconut kinda mood but once I smelled this candle, I was intrigued.  I could smell the coconut but it was unlike any coconut cream pie scent I had ever come across.  There’s nothing like smelling a yummy pie throughout your home and coconut cream is one of my favorite desserts so you could say I got in the mood pretty fast.  Here’s the scent description.

“A creamy coconut pie on the top of a buttery crust.  Heavy on the cream and butter with undertones of coconut.  Great throw!”

Yummy, yum-yum!  That sounds mouth watering!  I lit my candle in my bedroom and would say I began to notice the scent within 10 minutes or so.  That’s pretty good for a small jar.  I didn’t stick around to smell the fragrance all throughout the day but when I did, the scent was strong and again... it smelled unlike any coconut cream pie scent I’ve ever tried.  The description is pretty accurate in that it’s heavy on the cream and butter.  The coconut is indeed light but the overall fragrance to me just wasn’t jiving for some reason.  I don’t know what it was and it wasn’t a bad scent, don’t get me wrong... I just didn’t think it smelled like a coconut cream pie.

The funniest part of me burning this candle was my husband’s reaction when he came home.  I always pay attention to what he says because IF he says anything... it tells me the candle made an impact, good or bad.  The first thing he said was, “are you burning a buttered popcorn candle?”  Wallah!!  I kept smelling and smelling this scent and for the life of me couldn’t figure it out so once he said that, I was like, “Yeah! I do smell buttered pop corn!”  Maybe it was the butter we were smelling because the description said “heavy on the cream & butter”.

I don’t know... maybe my nose was way off on this one but I don’t think so.  It’s definitely a creamy and buttery scent so maybe it just needed more coconut.  The scent throw was very strong.  This 12oz candle easily scented my large bedroom and open bathroom with ease.  I bet their tarts rock in this scent.  If you like buttery scents... totally try this one.  It’s very different.
