Grape:

When I first saw this candle, I was really surprised...the entire radius of the jar was hand painted with grapes and leaves by the owner of Soycandlesite.com, Mickey Moschitto. It looked awesome and what a nice touch to an otherwise simple glass jar. I asked Mickey if anyone can purchase a candle this way and she said yes, all you have to do is request this under the “special instructions” section when ordering. A hand painted candle is $7.00 extra. To me, that’s a steal because the workmanship seems extensive and a hand painted candle would make such a great and unique gift.

Back to my candle...I think Grape is a pretty self explanatory scent so I’ll exclude the scent description on this one. When I stuck my nose in this candle, it smelled just like grape soda or grape Kool-Aid. I liked it right off the bat. I lit the candle in my bedroom and left the room for a good part of the day. I would go back every now and then to trim the wick and smell the air...I could smell the scent and it was nice but it wasn’t super strong. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a 6. So, medium throw.

I’ve been burning this candle for 3 days straight now and it’s a nice sweet grape Kool-Aid type fragrance...I liked it but wished it could have been a tad stronger. On the happy side...I didn’t get that fuel smell at all and my candle burned perfect.

All in all, I liked this candle, just would have preferred it stronger.

How Did My Candles Burn?

My candle burned okay. It did take awhile to get complete melt pools with both but once they got going, they did burn clean. I just had to make sure I kept my wicks trimmed faithfully.

Overall Opinion of My Candles from Soycandlesite.com:

I liked the site and love their scent selection. They offer 100% soy candles for soy lovers out there (which are many) and I think this site is worth shopping on. I would try them again just to see what there other fragrances are like. On the negative side, I wasn’t blown away by the specific scents I picked. The hand painted candle was gorgeous and I would buy that alone in a heart beat but as far as the scents themselves...I just thought they were “ok”. I did not care for Tropical Cooler but Grape was pretty good.

I feel really bad about not liking the Tropical Cooler candle but hey, it not unusual. On the positive side, I’m realistic enough to know I’m not going to like every scent I pick from a company either.

I think what sets this company apart from other companies is that they offer real hand painted designs on your candle (on any candle you want). It looks really cool. They also offer really pretty decals you can put on your candle to make it look hand painted (and it looks real, not fake) and offer memorial candles where you can send them a picture of your loved one or whoever you want really, it can be for any occasion and they incorporate that into the decal along with a border design. How cool is that? You can also add a special poem or saying on the decal (space permitting). I just think it’s a great concept and something different. They don't have specific "buy me" buttons for hand painted candles or decals so if you get confused about how to order, email them if you’re interested and they can walk you through how to do it.
