A faithful CandleFind reader approached me a few months ago highly recommending a candle company she fell in love with and wanted to send me a candle to try.  I had heard of this company but never tried them so of course said, heck yeah!  I love trying new candles, especially candles recommended by fellow candlefind junkies.  You all have given me some great tips so keep it up, I love it!  Carolyn and I are loving all your new recommendations as much as you love ours so we thank you, all of you!

Southern Candles are available in 7 different jar sizes as well as votives in over 95 fragrances.  I've also recently found out they plan on adding break away tarts to their menu sometime this summer, WOOHOO to you tart lovers out there!  That's a pretty decent selection and a nice variety to please even the pickiest of us.  I believe these candles are paraffin blended for those of you who don't care for soy.  Hard to believe there are any out there but low and behold... there are.  I happen to enjoy both soy or paraffin so I get to enjoy the best of both worlds.  The candle sent to me was in Southern Candles Cucumber Melon scent which is a big favorite of mine so I was looking forward to giving this one a try.

How Did My Cucumber Melon Candle Smell?

I love this fragrance. Love-love-love it!! Cucumber Melon is such a sweet, ripe, mouth watering scent and a classic to boot. It's a wonderful summertime fragrance and I'm usually always burning one somewhere in my house at any given time during the warm season.  It's one of those scents that always puts a smile on my face simply by smelling it.

Southern Candles version is pretty good and I enjoyed it from start to finish.  One thing I've noticed with the many versions out there is that there are some Cucumber Melons that are more on the cucumber side rather than the melon side.  I prefer the sweeter melon ones vs. smelling more of the cucumber.  Call me boring but I'm a sucker for sweet scents any day of the year.  This candle smells like the classic sweet cucumber melon with an added bit of crisp tartness.  Man, mouth watering is an understatement.  This scent rocked!!

The scent throw is very strong. For a little candle, it packed a great punch which pleasantly surprised me.  I think the double wicks helped since the hotter the scent pool, the stronger the fragrance. At least that's the theory and I believe it just from my personal experience.  Great scent folks.  If you have the chance to order from this company, give this one a try for sure.

My candle burned perfectly.  No soot or smoke. I did need to keep my wicks trimmed faithfully though or the flames got really big.

Overall Opinion of My Candle and Southern Candle Co:

I liked my candle, very much!  Since this was my first experience with this company and only have one fragrance under my belt, I can't recommend what to try from their other 94 fragrances but if Cucumber Melon gives any indication of what the rest might be like, I say any are worth a try.  I for one will be keeping an eye on this company and trying more in the future.
