If you like the smell of cakes baking, you simply must try this candle. It is absolutely excellent all the way around. Its warm fragrances smell just like the real thing. Extremely tantalizing. When I first lit this candle, several co-workers stuck their noses in my office hoping for a bite of a freshly baked cake. Too bad candles don't taste as scrumptious as they smell.
The carrot cake layer is the most fragrant of the three. It has a hearty and spicy smell, definitely including cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg or cloves. The end of the carrot cake layer blends well with the next layer, pineapple upside down cake. As the top layer burns off it mixes well becoming a carrot pineapple cake for a good many burns. I really love the way fragrances mix and change in the larger jar candles.
The pineapple upside down cake layer has a lighter fresher scent than the carrot cake layer. It still has plenty of fragrance with a good throw. It is an excellent summer smell mixing the freshness of pineapple with the sweetness of cake.
The final layer is strawberry shortcake, with a very sweet smell. Some how the third layer of a layer candle is always my least favorite. The smell of this layer was a little less inviting than the other two. None the less - This is an excellent candle I can wholeheartedly recommend. If Old Virginia makes it I'd also recommend Carrot Cake as a single scent candle, as it was a most excellent scent.
