Description: A Note from Carolyn, Editor of CandleFind: Pure Integrity is my one of my favorite candle companies! They smell SO authentic, SO strong and are very clean burning from the soy wax they use...no soot at all. I promise if you try their candles, you'll never want to burn another brand again.

Pros: great, realistic scents
Cons:

I found out about PI here at candlefind so I went to their web site and found out that PI is located near the city that I live in. While I can go to their retail stores, I opted to order on line because PI offers 20% off on your order, what a bonus. I purchased vanilla, clove, apple strudel, papaya passion and buttercream-love love love them all. The vanilla is without question the best vanilla candle I have ever burned, clove spicy and strong, apple strudel- to die for, papaya passion- strong and tropical, buttercream- yummy, my son came home and asked me if I was baking a cake. I loved all these candles so much that I went to PI's retail store in my local mall, what a find. Being there and able to smell all the different scents was like being in heaven. I purchased another vanilla, harvest, pina colada, almost paradise, peppermint and pear. I cant possibly tell you how awsome the pear is- smells good enough to eat. Unfortunately it does not seem to be available on the web site- hopefully in the future. Much to my surprise I am madly in love with the peppermint, cool and fresh, it might just be my favorite. These candles burn very even and clean, cant wait to try all the other scents.

Pros: Quality Candles, Friendly Owners, Great Scent throw
Cons: Wicks mushroom if burned too long -- require some maintainence

After all the reviews I read about this company -- I finally had to place and order to see what I was missing. As it turns out -- I was missing out on some unbelievible candles!!! Here is what I ordered--

PAPAYA PASSION -- the big one -- well, I have to agree with everyone -- this is one strong candle! Sweet and Tart, fruity and lingering -- almost peachy. I lit it for several hours, blew it out and capped it. The next morning my downstairs still lingered with the smell of the candle (pretty cool). This candle will have me ordering it again!

PUMPKIN PIE -- the big one -- as an experienced and avid baker -- I probably shouldn't have ordered this one so large. It has a great scent throw, but I think it smells more like squash and butterscotch and vanilla (someone in an early post mentioned they thought it smelled like maple or molasses) -- I don't really smell any of the cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves that make my pumpkin pies yummy. Oh well, it's not an unpleasant scent -- just not what I was expecting. (note: I have burnt this several times since I originally made this post and this candle is "growing on me")

CLOVE -- the big one -- this scent is very realistic -- but not as good of a thrower as PAYPAYA PASSION and PUMPKIN. I usually simmer mulling spices in a pot on my stove in the fall/winter and the clove's are very strong (nose burn if boiled hard) and I guess that is maybe what I was expecting from this company (o: I think I will burn it in a small area next time to get better results.

FRUIT SLICES -- small free jar -- At first smell, it reminds me of Hawiian Punch in the can. The scent is immediate as soon as you light it -- no wait!! This little candle scented my whole downstairs in less than an hour (pretty amazing). I will be buying a larger one of this. To be honest, I was concerned it would smell like the bright red juice kids love -- but it has a more authentic pineapple fruit smell when burnt -- tart and sweet -- very yummy.

ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT -- I did notice that the double wicks have a tendency to mushroom when left burning for hours. I trimmed them pretty close after the first burn (1/8"). I would have to say, that the extra wick maintainence is still worth it for these candles -- the scent throw is pretty great on most of their candles -- and the PAPAYA PASSION / FRUIT SLICES will have me coming back!

5/2006 -- SECOND ORDER

HERB GARDEN (26 oz) Nice scent -- not really "authentic herb scent"-- it reminds me more of a greenhouse filled with many flowers & plants -- it is very nice and not overpowering. PI rated it as STRONG -- but I would only give it a MODERATE

POMEGRANITE (26 oz.) -- Perfumey fruity scent -- unique and very nice. PI rated it as STRONG -- but I would only give it a MODERATE as compared to PAYPAPA PASSION / FRUIT SLICES / PUMPKIN PIE / HAZELNUT.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7/31/06 -- THIRD ORDER -- July's $5 shipping and free dozen tealights was just too tempting! Here is what I ordered this time Wink (BTW -- Three days from order to recieving -- THREE DAYS! WOW)
ALMOST PARADISE 26 oz (HOT -- MODERATE to STRONG throw -- It's mainly a nice sweet Blueberry scent)
HAZELNUT 26 oz (HOT -- Now this is a definite KEEPER!!! Whew -- it should be called Maple Hazelnut! What a great throw -- instantly -- very yummy, sweet and nutty! I think I am in LOVE... I can't believe there isn't more reviews on this scent!!!)
TROPICAL BREEZE 26 oz (HOT -- very bathroomy -- reminds me of a Calgon bath crystal scent. It is rated STRONG, but I would say more it is more MODERATE -- perfect for a nice size room -- but not enough for a large open area -- btw -- husband actually noticed and said that this has a "nice" scent)
HOT APPLE STRUDEL 26 oz (HOT -- This really smells like Apples, Cinnamon & pastry -- maybe a McDonalds apple pie?? Good enought to make you hungry! This is also rated STRONG, but I would give it a MODERATE also-- smells very nice -- just doesn't carry as well as some other scents)
CINNAMON 5 oz -- (HOT) -- (Nice authentic Cinnamon scent -- hard to rate strength in such a small jar -- I would estimate more of a moderate throw although it is rated STRONG).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
9/07/06 FOURTH order -- $5 shipping is hard to turn down!

BLACKBERRY 26 oz -- HOT (Just what I was expecting, reminds me of a Bridgewater Blackberry scent I loved. Moderate to Strong throw -- good fruity choice.)

OATMEAL COOKIE 26 oz (HOT -- definate keeper, I wouldn't say it smells just like an Oatmeal Cookie, regardless, it's is a warm slightly spicey sweet bakery scent with a pretty good throw too)

ROSE 26 oz (HOT -- Reminds me of Avons Tea Rose scent from years ago. Just the scent I was hoping for when I ordered it! A soft floral smell, very delicate and feminine and clean.) I am having a bit of difficulty with this candle's burning, it's just isn't creating an adequate melt pool and burns it's self out -- I am going to send and email to P.I. about it. Pure Integrity offered me a replacement with my next order (guess they know I will be ordering more). The said that once in a blue moon this happens - now I have a larger warmer candle Smile

WILD CHERRY 26 oz (HOT -- Lifesavers Cherry -- It's okay smelling, but I doubt I wouldn't buy it again -- I would give it a MODERATE throw, not Strong as rated on the website.)

JASMINE 5 oz -- jar too small, can't really appreciate it's scent...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/26/06 FIFTH order --
~~BAYBERRY 26 oz -- LIGHT TO MODERATE throw -- not really the bayberry scent from the bushes I have pick berries from at the beach -- disappointed.
~~CARROT CAKE 26 oz -- LIGHT MODERATE throw -- Very similar to their OATMEAL COOKIE (which is MUCH STRONGER and a better purchase)
~~VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS 26 oz -- Soft MODERATE throw -- Shame it's not a lot stronger. It smells like just like Christmas (fresh cut tree and mulling spices -- more complex than just pine scent)
~~HOT MULLED CIDER 26 oz -- STRONG -- this is the best of this bunch -- Warm apple cider and spices.
~~VANILLA ALMOND 26 oz -- Soft MODERATE -- Not as strong as I was expecting by all of the reviews. But it really does smells like a vanilla cake baking in the oven.
~~VANILLA CAPPUCCINO (5 oz)-- I really like the cold smell of this scent, but these little jars just don't have much of a smell when burning.
I received sample tea lights of SUGARED SPRUCE and MISTILTOE -- both have really good throws for their tiny size -- I will be ordering both next time!
SIXTH ORDER -- 12/06 --
Placed a holiday order for gifts -- got here ust in time! 26 oz jars
NUTMEG SPICE -- not as spicy as I was hoping for -- more of a spice cake scent
FRESH LINEN -- nice scent, not as strong as I was hoping in the bigger jar -- more of a moderate throw.
CARMEL VANILLA -- didn't burn yet
MAPLE -- warm maple syrup -- moderate throw
Also -- tealights of orange vanilla, lily of the valley and snow clouds.
Pros: Great customer service. Fast shipping. Careful packing. 2 free tea lights.
Cons: None
Frosted jars, attractive wooden lids, double cotton wicks. Pumpkin Pie and Oatmeal Cookie VERY strong yummy scents. Herb Garden very clean, green scent. Love all three scents! Lime Spritzer and Clove are nice but I like stronger scents. Lemongrass Sage, I like but my boyfriend thinks it smells like bug spray. I am thinking he was smelling bug spray as I had sprayed the kitchen a few days earlier. I am going to burn the candle again and see what he thinks as it smelled lemony when I first opened it. I will burn it no matter what he thinks as I like it! Pomegranite tea lights smell good and not too sweet, fruity. The soy candles burn clean and do not tunnel. I recommend Pure Integrity not only for the candles but for the exceptional customer service.
--------------------
I have burnt the Lemongrass Sage and it does not smell like bug spray. It has a lemon scent with a faint herbal scent. It is a pretty lime color. I wish it was a stronger lemon scent but I still like it.
-------------------
My boyfriend was standing by the Lemongrass Sage I had burning and he said it smelled really good and asked which candle it was. I told him it was the one he said smelled like bug spray so it WAS bug spray he was smelling. The Herb Garden, Lime Spritzer and Lemongrass smell great when they are burnt together (I am a three at a time burner and like scents to blend)
Pros: Great strong scents, attractive lable free jars, good customer service
Cons:
I ordered two Pure Integrity candles on the recommendation of CandleFind. When the UPS man arrived with the package he said, "This smells good!" He was right! I could smell vanilla without even opening the box. I had ordered the large jars of vanilla almond and herb garden, and they threw in two free vanilla tealights.
I immediately lit the vanilla almond. It has a great scent and filled my whole home. It is only 1600 square feet, but in San Diego I always have the windows open so sometimes a candle can be hard to notice. Not only did it fill the whole house, but when I was out watering the plants my neighbor asked me what I was baking. That is proof that this candle has a great throw.
Now the bad news is the herb garden. My roommate grabbed that one and took it to his store where he sells Steinway pianos. He burns it there. He says the costomers have been commenting how nice his store smells. Luckily, I was smart enough to smell it when it first arrived so I know the cold scent was great. I guess I am just going to have to order another one for myself. He of course thinks I need to order him the sandlewood candle for the store. Whatever!
I will be buying more candles from Pure Integrity (probably today) and recommend that you do as well. You will not be disappointed.
Pros: Great scents, attractive jars, candles burn great!
Cons: High shipping :(
What a great find this company was! I'd completely given up on soy candles. WHile I was attracted to its clean-burning properties, I hated that I could barely smell them Sad. For some reason, the scent throw just wasn't great with all the other soy candles I'd tried before. Then I read Carolyn's review of PI's Pumpkin Pie candle and I knew I had to try it Smile. Mind you, it was the beginning of June and I live in Northeast Florida...the last thing I needed was a Pumpkin Pie candle while it's 90 degrees outside. But I just couldn't NOT try it. So I place an order for their Pumpkin Pie, Fruit Slices and Pina Colada 10oz candles. Oh, and I also took part in their tell-a-friend promotion and chose a Hot Apple Struedel 5oz candle.
Their Customer Service is fantastic! They were so helpful when I just couldn't decide which scents to choose. And they included several tealights with my package. Oh and when I received my order (which shipped very fast!) I noticed the free candle was missing. WHen I emailed them to inquire about it, they mailed it out right away...along with a couple more tealights Smile! Here are my impressions of the scents I ordered:
*Pumpkin Pie: Boy, the reviewers of this scent were not kidding! This scent if freakishly realistic...and absolutely scrumptious! It is not overly spicy at all. Rather it's creamy and mellow and I get a whole lotta pumpkin and crust when I sniff it. I have to confess, though, I still haven't burned it. I'm trying to hold out until a more reasonable time. But I can't promise that I'll be able to wait until Fall, lol!
*Pina Colada: Now THIS is a Summer scent! And a delicious one at that. This is by far the best Pina Colada scent I've ever tried. No fake-y pineapple candy scent here! It's a perfect mixture of both pineapple AND coconut...which is so often overlooked. No rum notes either. I'd say this candle has a medium+ scent throw. It fills up my bedroom just great, but it doesn't work quite as well in the living room which is larger. The candle burned perfectly even, but I was annoyed because the wicks kept mushrooming almost immediately after lighting them. I then tried burning it with one of those stay-on toppers...worked like a charm! It even seemed to help the scent throw become stronger for some reason. All in all, a great candle Smile.
*Fruit Slices: Another great Summer scent! Imagine a sweet and tart fruit salad, and you've pretty much got the gist of this scent. The scent throw was quite strong and it did fill my open living room area without a problem. I liked it so much in fact, that it's already gone Sad. But it seemed to last for a looong time.
*Hot Apple Strudel: This one I haven't burned yet (see Pumpkin Pie review for reasons Wink). But I loved the scent of the candle. It is a sweet, tart and spicy apple scent that I'll be sure to love come Fall Smile.
I was really impressed by this company. Not only do they make awesome soy candles that you can actually smell, but their CS is phenomenal to boot. While I hate that they only ship through UPS, which can get mighty steep in a hurry, I liked heir candles enough that I'm sure I'll be back for more :D.
