I have tried many candles, and this company never lets me down. As with everything, some scents you will love and other scents will make you cringe, it is all a matter of personal taste and gold canyon has something for everyone. I personally love smooth, fruity scents or warm calming scents. One thing ALL gold canyon candles have in common, the scent throw is SOO0 strong you will smell your candle in minutes. The price is also quite reasonable for what you get. My favorite candles from this comapny are: cucumber melon (great scent throw from a smell that is usually mellow), coconut lime verbena (smells BETTER than BBW's!), holiday wreath (smells just like a live christmas tree x10), mulled cider (not too strong spice smell, blended with a smooth apple smell.), and the list could go on. I have never lit a candle from this company that did not have hugely strong scent throw, so if that's what you're looking for, buy gold canyon! trim your wicks and clean your jars, never blow them out, dip the wicks to put them out and you'll not get a black jar. Truly awesome!
Update: As I continue my obsession with collecting candles, I always return to gold canyon...seems like the scent throw will never dissapoint me, I just can't find a stronger scented candle anywhere! Soy is nice, but I have not been able to find a soy candle that throws like these. I just tried country cobbler ala mode...holy HEAVENLY!! Smells like fruity apple and mellow, heavenly cream...

I use to love these candles but the amount of soot they put in the air I think is unhealthy. The jars become very ugly after you burn them awhile because of the black soot. They say to keep the wick trimmed to eliminate most of the soot but that didn't work either and I don't have them set in a drafty area, so i quit burning these candles.

I have been extremely pleased with my first order from Gold Canyon. I have not had a problem with soot. They are very strong and burn very cleanly!
3/18/07 I have bought a lot of candles and these are still clearly some of the best. I now buy them from ebay.

I have loved every Gold Canyon candle I have burned. There is some soot that forms on the jars, but that doesn't bother me. I love the strong throw and the clean burn.

My neighbor sells these and I got several different scented jars from her which smell really good cold but, when I burn them, they put out a lot of soot and aren't as strong as I heard they were suppose to be. In fact 3 out of 4, the scent throw was very faint. I am always trying new candle companies and for them to be around so long and be so popular, I really expected more.

I ordered 2 candles not long ago - knowing that the reviews were quite high. The Perfect Pineapple came directly from the web site whereas the Cucumber Melon came from a local distributor.
Perfect Pineapple - had a very juicey scent that I love. Unfortunately, in my home, the scent throw was very limited even in a regular sized room. So, I sit next to it & then I can smell the delicious scent!
Cucumber Melon - I love this scent but I am afraid that again, the throw is minimal on this 26 oz candle. Even with it next to me, I truly find it scentless.
The candles burn differently. The Pineapple creates a lot of soot within an hour. I found that by trimming the wicks within that hour, that I get a cleaner burn. Strangely, the Cucumber Melon melts beautifully for hours. I am guessing it depends on the particular oils.
I wish I could recommend these candles, but I can't. Perhaps it was the scents that I chose, but I have found other vendors whose candles perform better for me.
