Pros: Great quality candles with big throws, lots of scents, super fast processing and discounts available
Cons: None, really, although I'd love it if she sold more votives

A few weeks ago I ordered a few candles from Candles by Victoria for the first time, and I really like them. They have all the positives I look for in a good candle -- huge throw (filled the house), clean burning with no tunnelling, sooting or smoking, and strong authentic scents. She processed and shipped my order fast, too - I ordered on a Sunday night and had the candles in hand by Thursday. It doesn't get much better for a candle junkie like me!!!

CBV has a ton of scents to choose from - more than 420 - plus several specialty candles she makes up from a combination of scents. I kept my order small just to try out the company and bought two 16 oz country jars (wide mouth mason jars)of Apple Jack N Peel and Root Beer. Both of these burned great and what a throw! The Apple Jack N Peel smelled wonderful and I especially liked the Root Beer - this scent is not always easy to find and it's a particular favorite of mine. I also bought one of the specialty candles - an 18 oz jar of Caramel Apple Cinnamon Butter. I'm waiting til the fall to burn this one but it smells fabulous cold.

RE this company's "cons," I need to clarify that CBV does actually sell votives, but they are only available in prefilled 2.5 oz votive holders with an Americana motif. I don't need any more votive holders and prefer to purchase votives without them and use the holders I already have. Hopefully in the future Victoria will offer "loose" votives as well as those in containers... Smile

Finally, CBV has frequent sales and discounts and her shipping costs are reasonable considering the price of gas, postage and everything else these days. I can't wait to order again!

UPDATE: Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the Caramel Apple Cinnamon Butter candle once I burned it. This candle smelled like none of those things but more like petroleum mixed with a faintly nutty smell. Throw was nonexistent (in this case, a good thing.) I heard folks have had good luck with CBV's melts so maybe those would be better to try.

Also, Victoria has added votives to her candle menu, which is great. Unfortunately they cost approximately $2.00 each - as much as Yankee - so this won't be my first choice for votives.

Pros: awesome scent throw, amazing variety, great customer service
Cons: none

I have been purchasing candles from Victoria for a few years now. Just recently I started getting the Scent Shots, which are huge tarts to melt.
The scents so far that I just LOVE are:
Blackberry Sage
Glow by JLO
Jasmine (this is one of my all time favs)
Cottage Garden ~ Violet, Jasmine, Rose, lily, & hyacinth, coupled with peach, pineapple & melon (another fav)
Buttery Caramel
Honeysuckle
White Ginger ~ enticing, sweet and spicy fragrance
Breath of Ireland ~ top notes of fresh green clover, and ivy with middle notes of romantic snap dragon, rose petals, and carnations; ending with base notes of white musk and fig leaves.

Jamaican Vacation ~ blend of tart kiwi, middle notes of lilac and tiger lily, with fresh based notes of pineapples and pears.

Unwind ~calming Lavender, Rosemary and Geranium(another fav)
Jungle Gardenia ~ blend of wild Roses, Jasmine petals, White blossoms and Violets
Chocolate Chip Cookie
Home Sweet Home
Spiced Vanilla
Old Fashioned Christmas ~ A sweet citrus, cinnamon and clove blend
Afternoon Breeze ~ A combination of Lavender, Vanilla and Rain
Graham Cracker Crust
Chocolate Mint

I just put in another order over Labor Day for these scents: UPDATED!
Strawberry Margarita
Caramelized Pralines (this one is great!)
Blackbird Pie ~ Blackberries and currents with undertones of cinnamon and orange zests
Buttery Gingerbread
Caramel Apple
Caramel Coffee Cake (yummy!)
Country Bumpkin ~ wonderful complex blend of apples, candied yams, marshmallows, sweet cream butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, crushed cinnamon bark and fresh cloves.
Fudge Brownie
Pecan Pie
Snickerdoodle
Spiced Pumpkin Chutney ~ perfect blend of fresh pumpkin, just a touch of spice and a hint of citrus makes this one awesome autumn fragrance.
Vanilla Bean
Cinnamon Buns (amazing)
Fig Lychee ~ fresh fruity aroma of fig with the unqiue addition of a popular Chinese fruit, lychee. Lychee fruit is noted for being sweet, yet slightly spicy (great different scent)
Mahogony ~ Rich and heady this is a wonderful masculine fragrance that evokes thoughts of winter in the deep woods, sitting by a fire in a rustic log home
Storm Watch ~ Like a moist warning breeze before a storm, naturally airy and refreshingly different
Cinnamon Stick (really strong... too much for me!)
Harvest
Spearmint
Winter Snowflake
Mistletoe
Apple Cider

Can you tell I am getting ready for the fall!? LOL. I will post how I like these scents when I get them and try them out!

Oh and also... Victoria offers votives now in a 3 pack of the same scent, for anyone who is looking for votives!

Pros: The scent throw is fantastic!
Cons:

I love this etailer! You get over 450 scent choices, and you can also have one made for you! No other place has as many choices in scents and sizes; tarts, scent shots, small, med and large jars! (Oils and diffusers are also available for those that also use alternative ways of dispensing scents.) Hands down. This is my favorite!

Pros: Scent selection
Cons: Carbon and smoke

I found this company on Candlefind, thank you. I ordered 2 scents caramel apple and lily of the valley.

The caramel apple jar candle burned without too much fragrance. It smelled like candy apple but only if you were right by the candle. The bigger problem was the giant black ball that formed on the end of the wick. I looked it up and its called a carbon ball. It produces black smoke. It was huge, almost 1/2 inch thick ball on the end of the wick. I cut it off and tried the candle again. It happened the 2nd time as well so I threw that one away.

The lily of the valley is my favorite scent and the jar candle from this company had a fake florist shop smell to it. It smelled inside my bathroom but the smell was fake. This candle didn't have as big as a black soot ball on it but it still had one and with the fake smell I just can't say that I'm pleased with the way the candles performed.
