I first found out about this brand when I was shopping at a local mall and decided to go into this new store. I was blown away on how nice it smelled in there. I had to ask the sales associate what the smell was she said it was the archipelago candle they were advertising in Pineapple Ginger.I said "I'll take it". That night I went home to light the candle in my room and within minutes the pineapple ginger smelled up my room, and even the hallway! That night I went online to look up the brand and could not resist buying another one. I bought Pamona which was another refreshing scent of guava, papaya, and vanilla. I don't know which one I liked better, but all I know was that this was one of the greatest candles I ever bought! In the end although this candle was a little bit pricey, it was worth it!

My newest aromatherapy experience is Archipelago candles. I was cautious again and bought votives just in case I didn’t like them. I purchased Paramour & L’Orangerie. Paramour is a mixture of Papaya, Mango & Pomegranate. L’Orangerie is a mixture of Nectarine, Mango & Citrus. I enjoyed them both but Paramour was by far my favorite of the two.
I burned two votives at a time so I could get a stronger scent throw and burned them in my large bathroom. Paramour was a bold, deep scent and I loved the fragrance. It didn’t smell fruity to me but more aromatherapy. It has a strong scent throw and was awesome. Every time I went in my bathroom, I would go, “Mmmmmm” because it smelled so good. I totally recommend this one.
L’Orangerie was pretty good too but I liked Paramour a lot more. Paramour was much stronger and had that deep/strong fragrance that seemed lacking in L’Orangerie. I couldn’t distinguish Nectarine from Mango but it did smell fruity and was nice… I just wish it would have had that aromatherapy feel to it. To me, it smelled ordinary, a fragrance I could buy somewhere else for much less.

When on vacation I was visiting a spa and decided to splurge on a Mango Tangerine 14 oz soy candle by Archipelago, for which I spent a hefty $36. The fragrance smelled great before I burned it. I kept opening the tin and the candle would smell up the whole room without being lit.
I took the candle home and lit it and it was a whole different story. I let it burn for a full 6 hours and I could only smell it lightly. I went out the room and came back in several times just to make sure, but it was still a light fragrance. It was definitely not worth the $36 I paid for it.
Even worse I found out that they use only a little over 50% soy wax in their candles. They don't even claim that they are natural wax so they're probably mixed with paraffin. I'm very disappointed with these candles and I think that for the price they could've at least given me a 100% soy candle. I also just found out that if a candle company uses over 50% soy wax in their blend they can safely call their candle a "soy candle" I'd definitley say make sure that if you want soy, you are getting soy.

Strong Throw - Good Burn - Unique & Heavenly Scents - Beautiful Packaging

I have tried Bergamot Tobacco, Pineapple Ginger, & Cinnamon Spice (from 2006 Holiday Collection). These candles all burn very clean & evenly. The candles are beautiful. They come in a beautiful box & are wrapped in tissue paper. They are pricey for the size you get, but are worth it becuase they have some unique scents that you can't find elsewhere. It's wonderful as a gift because of it's beautful packaging.
Bergamot Tobacco is my favorite. It's a floral scent & I don't usually like floral scents 'cause they give me headaches, but this scent is so unique & beautiful that I couldn't help but love it. The tabacco scent is from the tabacco flower and the bergamot cuts the floral scent a little and doesn't make it too floraly. This scent is so complex and unique that I can't really explain it. The throw is strong since the scent fills your room without even lighting it. I just LOVE it! I've repurchased a couple of times.
Pineapple Ginger is soooo fragrant. The scent fills up your whole room before you light it! The candle smells just like a freshly made pina colada. Wonderful smell!
The Cinnamon Spice candle (from 2006 Holiday Collection) is the one that disappointed me the most. I loved the cold smell so much that I bought two of these. However, the candle didn't smell as good lit as it was cold. The throw wasn't as strong as the typical Archipelago candles. I returned the candle and won't be purchasing this one again.
I will repurchase Archipelago candles though because I've had so many good experiences with them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I recieved one of these candles in the Havana scent and have enjoyed it, though I can't say I'd buy one for myself (at least, not in this scent). The scent throw is medium and different than any candle I've ever smelled, but it's a scent I wouldn't want to smell all of the time. It's hard to describe what exactly it smells like. My aunt who got it for me, remarked that to her it smells like "an old billiards room", whatever that smells like. It has a kind of fragrant, sweet tabacco-y thing happening with perhaps a dash of a leathery scent. It is for sure the most 'manly' candle I've ever smelled. Perhaps more manly than I like, and I'm a man (a gay one, but a man nonetheless). It's burned for a long time, though no matter how long I leave it burning, I can not get it to reach the edges of the jar. I suppose it isn't supposed to. The jar is sure nice and fancy. It's a very "handsome" candle. I'd recommend it to an older distinguished gentleman who doesn't think they like candles. Just not for me. My Mom got one in the "Chocolate" scent which is an off white color and doesn't smell a thing like chocolate. It smells nice, but how anyone could ever think it smells like chocolate is beyond me. Interesting candles and I may one day try a scent that is more my taste. I'll get back to you all on that.
