Jipped on the wick! Not much selection

I can't believe this company hasn't been listed on the board before now! So widely available and well-known for scented products, Glade candles have been updated recently with the new tag of "Made with Essential Oils". I used to buy the round containers and now they are a 4 oz. frosted tumbler. I was impressed at first with the scent strength & quality. I purchased Apple Cinnamon and Clean Linen, both scents that I normally don't favor. They offered a Vanilla as well, but I didn't care for the cold sniff. They don't burn particularily clean and you must follow the mfr.'s directions of burning for at least several hours for any hope of reaching the edges. But my biggest gripe was towards the bottom of the candle - by the amount of wax remaining, I figured I still had plenty of burn time. Not! The wick gave out with at least a 1/2" remaining. Maybe that's Glade's way of ensuring that you don't cheat and let it burn all the way out, but I FELT cheated! But I guess for the price and the lure of instant wax gratification, I shouldn't complain. The scents were good, and I really liked them both, so I would purchase these again. Just make sure you burn the candles long enough to melt the top or it will tunnel like a mole!

I love the glade candles. They have a good scent throw and the jars are just the right size for any room, espically a small room. I can smell them even if i'm not in the same room! I just wish they had more scents to choose from.

Picked up a 4 oz. Glade candle today for $2.97 in a scent called "Glistening Snow" at a do it yourself home store. The candle is small and attractive in a frosted glass and the label is pretty with the scent name and picture of pine cones and evergreens. Too bad they have to stick the word "Glade" in larger letters right in the middle. Glistening Snow scent was stronger cold than when lit but there was a small throw so I put in in my bathroom. The scent smells like a spa candle but with no one scent standing out to describe it more succinctly. The label states it is the smell of "fresh cut woods and warm holiday spices" but again, I cannot identify any one particiular ingredient but the smell is light and pleasant. (Oddly, the label had a spelling error on the word "and." I wouldn't expect that from a big company like Glade so perhaps the one I got was a reject?) This Glade candle burned in a slant across the top, and only made a wax pool half way across with one part of the candle staying level and the other half burrowing down, so the candle is really no bargain but it is cute and Christmas-y looking and that's about it.

Pros:

nice scents, easy to find, work well with a warming plate
|
|
Cons:
|
tend to tunnel badly
|

The Glade candles are attractive and have some nice fragrances to choose from but, as others have stated, they tunnel rather badly if you don't let them burn a super long time and sometimes even if you do. I have resorted to melting them on an electric plate warmer and you really get a good scent throw this way. I personally like the labels but both the front and back labels peel off easily if you don't care to look at them.

inexpensive and sold in most grocery stores

Cons:

unpleasant or nonexistent scent

I had already tried the melt style of Glade candles, and thought they were very expensive and burned poorly ($10 for three little melting tarts with a metal wick that burned incompletely? Ack.) . After reading reviews here I bought two of the regular candle styles, White Linen and Pumpkin. I thought the pumpkin scent smelled unpleasant (and so did the students who came into my classroom.) I could barely smell the Linen scent. I think the cold scent on Glade is better than the burning scent. Even in the bigger, earlier Glade candles, I thought they looked better than they smelled. That includes the round scalloped glass style candles from the past.
