Pros: Good scent throw, burns cleanly, natural color, elegant glass
Cons: none

I picked up one of these candles at Bath & Body Works during my Christmas shopping -- FIRESIDE. It smells like Cedar with a touch of sweet vanilla. It has a very nice aroma, natural off white color, no wick mushrooming problems, burning cleanly and a decent scent throw for the size of the glass (10 oz). It is a perfect size for the bedroom. I am not sure if it is a soy based candle -- it looks like it may be. During my after Christmas shopping I picked up a few more at 1/2 off!! (o:

Pros: Scent Throw, Burn, Amazing Scent
Cons: Limited Edition Scent

I posted this review under Slatkin & Co. as well. They produce the candles for the Elton John line carried at Bath & Body Works.

In December 2006, I purchased a Slatkin & Co. candle at Bath & Body Works. Elton John "Fireside" scent, where a portion of the proceeds are to benefit The Elton John Aids Foundation. 10 ounce candle, in an attractive gold/frosted pattern tumbler for the holidays, creamy white wax. Absolutely TOTALLY AWESOME scent! I am not a fan of vanilla at all, but in this candle it was the absolute perfect accompaniment to what I believe is cedarwood and/or sandalwood definitely, maybe a hint of orange and pine or balsam. Smells like a winter "fireside" befitting its name. Beautiful burn, full melt pool and good scent throw. One candle pleasantly scented my entire living/dining area (about 30x20). I havent measured burn time, but has to be upwards of 40-50 hours.

I was impressed. So I went back and bought 2 more of the Fireside tumbler candles (last 2 in the store) and 2 vials of the matching home fragrance oil in the Fireside scent.

Full price is on the moderate side for this size candle, $16.50. By no means expensive. Similar size of the Bendel candles were pushing $30 at Bath & Body Works. (I am not a fan of Bendel.) I waited until 50% off, so only paid $8.25 for each candle and $3.75 (regular $7.50) for each fragrance oil.

Bummer that this may only be a one time holiday scent!

I will consider trying other Slatkin candles if they produce another scent I like or if they bring this scent back next season.

All thumbs up.

Pros:
Cons:

I have tried Elton John's Estate candle and Fireside

Both candles burned well.

Estate was supposed to represent the scent of Elton Johns personal estate and I was just curious enough to purchase this candle scent unsmelled from an Ebay seller.

I didn't care for the Estate scent at all. It was heavy on the Fig (a scent which I now know to avoid) I couldn't even finish the candle and gave it away to someone who loved it.

The Fireside scent I enjoyed a lot and have found that many vendors carry a duplicate of this fragrance. It's a lovely warm scent that doesn't smell like only woodsmoke. It's got some nice layers to it.
